My Nana (In class writing assignment)

A few years ago, she had to get a hip replacement. Now her smooth, easy, walk has turned into a limp; she wobbles back and forth, trying not to aggravate the hip, but sometimes the pain is just too much, and she can't take it anymore.
My nana is a very strong woman. She had her first child at age 16, another at 18, and four more after that. She survived an abusive husband, the death of her first child, and a horrible car crash that left one of her daughters in the ICU.
Nana lives in St. Louis and whenever we visit her she is the first to come give me the warmest hug and tell me how much she missed me. Even in her old age, Nana is still a very active person. She just recently retired from her job as a hostess in a steakhouse, and now spends her time helping out the family. Every Thanksgiving, Nana makes all sorts of wonderful dishes. My favorites are her mandrin orange cake and special punch.
